Mintle'e'da'us was born in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1956. He is Dzawada̱'enux̱w from Gwa'yi (Kingcome Inlet). His late father was a Chief from Capilano and was from the Coast Salish and Squamish Nations. Wade currently lives with his wife and daughter in North Vancouver.
Wade was influenced by renowned master carvers Na̱kap̓a̱nka̱m (Mungo Martain), Ḵulut̕a (Henry Hunt). Wade is very knowledgable in his people's history and culture. He has traveled to many bighouses learning and sharing various ancient teachings.
